Trust, quality
and the customer.

When work represents something great.

Enter the 90's...

I recently watched a documentary about the creation and impact of the 1993 video game DOOM. The game was a marvel of programming and passion, starting a revolution for PC software and gaming as a whole. The documentary flashed an image of a screen that would appear in some of id Software's (DOOM's creator company) early titles.

The image really stuck out to me, as it said something that very much aligns with Eli Studio's values. There are two parts to this: first, calling themselves software artists — not just developers or programmers — and second, the appreciation of the customer.

Programming and software development truly is an art, where every decision is made from the creator's opinion and their intent. This is especially true as web development is improving at such a pace where animation, sound and interaction are becoming much more advanced. Every decision is made for a reason, adding to a more impressive experience.

Next is the appreciation of the customer. id Software put the emphasis on the people who would use their products — it seems obvious, right? But appreciation of the customer has to be built through an entire project's development. id Software showed this with DOOM by not only making the game's first levels free but adding a full modding suite for no additional cost. Making the active decision to support your customers from the start leads to happier and therefore more loyal customers.

Many companies such as Toyota, Apple, Intel and Nintendo have some form of quality standard or mark of quality. They boost customer trust tremendously and become a major part of these companies' identity.

But what's a surefire way to have a standard of quality? My recommendation is to focus on and appreciate the customer. By putting yourself in the shoes of your customers and walking through every step of the process, you build more quality by eliminating friction, removing issues and adding value at no additional cost.

This is what Eli Studios believes in. By understanding and valuing our customers and clients, we create a standard of quality that not only are we proud of, but that drives growth.
